El Altet
Sun & Beaches

More than nine kilometres of coastline of mostly virgin beaches make up Elche coastline. Five of the sixbeaches, which are separated by the town of Santa Pola, hold blue flag status, in recognition of their excellent quality. All enjoy excellent road access and bus routes which connect them with Elche.

To the north are the beaches of El Altet, Los Arenales del Sol and El Carabassí. Located on the Gulf of Alicante, they are very attractive for the practice of water sports because of the persistent Mediterranean winds and the great natural wealth of the seabed. In Los Arenales there is an area where it is possible to rent all the necessary equipment. These three beaches, along with the salt marshes of Los Balsares, El Fondet de la Senieta and the wetlands of El Clot de Galvany, make up an ecosystem with an extremely interesting flora and fauna.

El Pinet, La Marina and Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo, to the south, constitute an area of outstanding environmental value, with an ecosystem of sand dunes and pine forests lying between the nature reserve of Las Salinas de Santa Pola and the mouth of the Segura river. They are also ideal for the practice of sports, with a water sports centre on La Marina beach.
